While discussing various topics, he revealed that for an upcoming horror movie, he lost weight to play the role of a priest. During the shooting, his weight was 230 pounds, but as soon as the shooting ended, he was called back to shoot some additional scenes, which was quite astonishing for him, given that his weight had increased to 280 pounds in the meantime. However, this weight loss endeavor is not a difficult task for James, as he added, “I can lose it really quickly. I can fast and lose it. I can do it in a month. Less than a month.”

James explained his weight loss journey in a few, but quite straightforward, words. He didn’t conceal any secret ingredients but revealed everything, including the pros and cons of such a stringent weight loss technique. During the interview, he said, “When I am fasting, I do not aim to fast for a particular period. When I lock on, I can do something. I started fasting; I didn’t say I am going to do 40 days, I just said I am going to do whatever I can. I felt pretty good for a while, and then I have these dips, like wow, I feel pretty miserable,” he added.

When it comes to fasting for weight loss, James becomes so adamant that he can survive on only water and a little salt to keep his electrolytes replenished. He revealed that the longest he ever fasted was 41 and a half days without consuming any food. It can be both good and bad, and that’s why Kevin James doesn’t recommend others try this extreme approach. According to him, it’s better to opt for a slow but steady approach rather than undergoing an extreme weight loss method. The reason is that once you stop fasting, which everyone inevitably does, the stomach expands as soon as you return to regular eating. “I am not saying it’s the way to go for everybody—I don’t know,” he added in the podcast.

Kevin James categorically said that his goal is now to find a sustainable and healthy way to achieve an ideal weight and remain fit and healthy. And it does make sense; starvation can be beneficial in the short term, but for the long term, one needs to find a trainer or adhere to a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, and a healthy diet to cope with obesity and remain fit. Moreover, his way of making things easier for himself is through self-motivation, as he said, “Just recently, I have stopped comparing myself to other people and trying to just say ‘get better than yourself yesterday.’”
